This winter we are proud to be supporting the amazing Light up a Life initiative that St Nicholas Hospice is leading in Bury St Edmunds.
Light up a Life is a season of remembrance carried out nationwide by Hospice UK which draws communities together to remember those we have loved and lost. The festive season is always a special time to be with those closest to us and provides an opportunity to celebrate the love and happiness brought into our lives by those we miss.
The initiative is particularly important this year, as life has been far from normal for many of us during the recent months, there is extra incentive this time round for remembrance and support of those who have had to deal with dying, caring and grief in such challenging and heart-breaking circumstances.
With support of Marham Park and Countryside, St Nicholas Hospice has taken steps to make sure this year is better than ever, with a range of online events taking place. During December the hospice will release a series of pre-recorded virtual services, during which names of loved ones will be spoken, accompanied by music and poetry. Additionally, this year the hospice will be offering an online Book of Remembrance in which the names of loved ones can be recorded and shared.
Over the last two years close to 2,000 volunteers gave their time to St Nicholas Hospice and positively impacted more than 7,000 people.
